Student Teacher Self Report (Teaching Practice)


5.1.Procedure of teaching
I have two kind of teaching procedure, the first one is the traditional procedure (I used the same method as the teacher) and the second is the modern procedure. I used the traditional method in the first and second meeting, the procedure is:
1.      Introduce to the class
2.      Recalling the student base knowledge
3.      Give the student Pretest (Only if on the last meeting the class doesn’t have any review)
4.      Give the student the material of new topic
5.      Reviewing the student knowledge (Normal Quiz)
6.      Closing the class
Meanwhile the Second procedures is quite similar same as the traditional procedures:
1.      Introduce to the class
2.      Arranging the class into 8 groups
3.      Recalling the student base knowledge
4.      Give the student Pretest (Only if on the last meeting the class doesn’t have any review)
5.      Give the student the material of new topic
6.      Reviewing the student knowledge (Using Kahoot)
7.      Closing the class
5.2.Time management and organizing activities
For managing the time, I used stopwatch to show me how much time that I’ve spend. About the time allocation I allocate 10 minutes for introduce and recalling the topic, 10 minutes for pretest, 20 minutes for New topics learning and then the last 20 minutes is used for the quiz and closing the class.
The teacher is also walking around the class to check the student works, so if the student is already finisher the teacher can be go to the next activities. The total of teaching hour in the internship is 20 hours of teaching and assist.
5.3.Problem-solving
The main problem that I faced when I taught students grade 10 in TAU-Laboratory school was the students rarely read their books so when I asked them question that the answer is on the book, they still don’t know. They only studied when teacher explained the lesson to them in the class but it was not enough for them to get all of the knowledge or the concepts because the teaching hour is only 1 hour and teacher should repeat the concept for them when they still don’t understand. To solve that problem, I asked students to read the book first -at least 1 day- before the lesson is started so they will get the outlines of the lesson that they will learn.
5.4.Classroom Management
The class has 51 pupils and the class and when doing the demonstration I arranged them into eight group and the class should be active and enjoyable, the student here come to the class for enjoying the school, not for hurting their feelings and make themself confused about the topic, so in the teaching the teacher should made the student comfort and telling the student a joke to made the student feels close to the teacher and they did not get shy when asking some question.
Because of the student is too active and it is hard to choose the student when they are rising their hands. That’s why the teacher sometimes choose the student by their seat coordinate. And sometimes the class is arranged into the group of two, three or four if the teacher have a hard task for the student.
