Student Teacher Self Report ( Summary and Suggestion)


6.1.Purpose of practicum

The purpose of the practicum is to prepare a good future teacher by teaching in another country and taught how to be a real teacher. From this program, the student teacher can improve their English skill both in the teaching in the classroom or in communication with the other people. The practice can build the relationship and also can have a new family in the other country, also for improve our knowledge about culture of another country and to respecting other country cultures.

6.2.Procedures of practicum

Along the Teaching practicum I was accompanied by my cooperating teacher Ma'am Melani Petero and my Supervisor Ma'am Blesie. The procedure of practicum in one month of internship program are doing a lot of activity inside the Tarlac Agricultural University, College of Education and Lab School of TAU are:

6.3.Outcomes of practicum

There are three outcomes of the practicum. They are:

The practice teacher can improve the English Proficiency

The Practice Teacher Has Many Experiences by teaching the students from another country and the culture of the country

The Practice gains more knowledge regarding the teaching skill and Pedagogy

6.4.The challenges of practicum

The biggest challenge for me of while practice teaching and life on TAU is the time management, because the other teacher sometimes still on the class when I try to teach. So I have to wait for them to finish the class about 10 or 15 minutes. And the time for teaching is only 60 minutes (grade 9) So the teacher should e managed the time more properly.
The language barrier also become the challenge because sometimes I can’t explain some definition in English, so my cooperating teacher sometimes help me if the question is big. Sometimes it feels like i can’t understand the student explanation because they sometimes used Filipino, rather than English.

6.5.Overall impression

Overall my impression on this project was good, we can have a lot of experiences, find new friends and become family with them, train our English Speaking, how to be confidence when you are do the public speech, how do they live in another country,, about the curriculum of each country and how to be a good teacher. It should be continued and lots of people are able to join this program.

6.6.Suggestion for future improvement

The suggestion for future improvement in SEA-Teacher is the home university and the school should be informed about the topic or at least the grade that the student teacher will be teach, so the student teacher will be more prepared the lesson plan and teaching method can be more improved.

3.1 Curriculum Tarlac Agricultural University-Laboratory School uses K-12 Curriculum (re: K to 12). 21nd day in Philippines

Today is Market Day.  We went to the Tarlac SM by using The bus, it cost 41 pesos (about  Rp. 12,000) it was fun there, i bought many things there and I also bought Turon for snacking while waiting for the others,   it is wrapped banana and langka the taste is sweet.  We have to wait for the others, because we are splitted up on 1 pm and have to regroup again on 5pm, its so bored when we are waiting. We did shopping for almost 6 hours We are finally regroup again on the meeting point at 05.30, after that we get back to the hostel by using van, and we have to walk again to the hostel.
